Two people have been arrested after a high-speed chase with the police in Hulhumale' on Saturday.

Police said a man and a woman were arrested in connection with the incident. But their identities were not disclosed.

The speeding car refused to stop when ordered by the police and speeded along streets in Hulhumale' Phase 1 and 2 to evade the police.

The car also hit a police motorcycle during the chase. Two police officers are being treated for injuries sustained during the collision.

Police figures show that there were more than 1,700 road accidents this year.
