The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation Limited (MMPRC), tainted due to corruption and money laundering links, has been renamed as Visit Maldives Corporation Limited.

This change was brought with a presidential decree. MMPRC is responsible for promoting Maldives tourism.

Visit Maldives is a slogan already used to promote the country's tourism. The MMPRC website is named Visit Maldives.

The company was linked to massive corruption since 2014. Around USD 90 million went missing from the state coffers due to the corruption.

MMPRC sold and leased islands for tourism purposes, but the money earned through these transactions went missing.

The money was later used to bribe judges and commit other crimes. MMPRC sold about 59 islands and lagoons. The missing money has not been recovered so far.
