The capsized landing craft.
The army and police have refused to disclose the name of the foreigner who went missing from the SIWEC landing craft that capsized in the Kaashidhoo sea on June 25.
The police and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) have not responded to questions about the name, age and nationality of the man.
MNDF officer Ali Hamid was killed when the vessel capsized. There were six people on board - three MNDF officers and three foreign nationals.
The missing man is believed to be 550 meters below sea level, in the engine room of the landing craft.
The media officer did not respond to questions about whether the MNDF can go to depths of 550 metres.
An internal investigation is underway to find how the incident occurred, while a separate police investigation is also ongoing.
