Alia Investment, in collaboration with the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT), has launched the 11th Boat Operator's Training Program for boat captains.

Fifty boat captains are participating in the three-day training.

MIT Director of Program Adam Haleem told Adhadhu that the program will provide captains with important training on how to troubleshoot engines and prevent accidents at sea.

Alia General Manager Ahmed Saeed said the captains will learn a lot from the program and hope they will continue providing passengers with a safe journey.

Resorts, maritime transport service companies and government institutions are taking part in the programme designed to meet industry standards on maritime safety, professionalism and practical training.

Captains participating in the training program will be awarded a certificate of completion.

More than 500 participants have so far completed Alia's Boat Operator's Training Program.

Alia has also opened applications for the Yamaha Technical Training Program to be conducted this year in collaboration with the Yamaha Technical Academy of Japan.
