Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is preparing to launch its Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry service in Raa Atoll later this month, followed by Baa Atoll by the end of July.
In an interview with Public Service Media (PSM), MTCC CEO Ahmed Saudee confirmed that efforts are underway to begin RTL operations in Raa Atoll within June, with plans to expand the service to Baa Atoll shortly after.
"By the end of this month, we will be able to commence work on RTL in R. Atoll. Following that, we will commence the RTL service in Baa Atoll by the end of July," Saudee stated.
The RTL service, which was originally initiated during President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration, is expected to be fully implemented across the country by the end of this year. .
In addition to ferry services, MTCC is also working to enhance its public bus services in the Greater Malé Region. The current bus routes between Malé and Hulhumalé serve an average of 27,000 passengers daily. Saudee said that discussions are ongoing to improve these services in response to growing urban development.
