A 45-year-old Maldivian man serving a 25-year prison sentence has died while undergoing treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Adhadhu understands that the man, convicted in connection with a drug-related case, had been bedridden at the hospital for the past six weeks. Adhadhu also understands that he received treatment for self-inflicted injuries in late April.

Despite the circumstances surrounding his death, no official statements have been issued by the Maldives Correctional Service, IGMH, or other relevant authorities.
