The Maldives has signed the Blue Planet Climate Agreement promoted by the Blue Planet Alliance.
The climate agreement was signed by Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef during his visit to Hawaii to participate in the Blue Planet Alliance Fellowship Programme.
The Blue Planet Climate Agreement has goals to work towards 100 percent renewable energy by 2045. It is a non-binding agreement.
The Blue Planet Alliance will provide assistance to countries that sign the agreement to increase their capacity to generate electricity from renewable energy.
The Blue Planet Alliance was established in 2020 to work to protect the environment. The organization was founded by Henk Rogers, a video game designer and famous businessman.
