The salaries of the imams of the atolls will be delayed this month, the Islamic Ministry has said.

In a message to a Viber group of imams, the ministry said the delay was due to a problem in the system.

The ministry added that they were working to resolve the problem as soon as possible and disburse the salaries.

Some imams get a fixed salary while others get an allowance. Salaries are paid to imams employed under a long-term contract.

Despite the problem with the system, imams in the Male' city will not face any delays in getting their salaries.
