Police have arrested a man who left the scene after a woman fell from the ninth floor of a building in Male'.

Raudh Ahmed Zilal, 21, was with Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed, 21, when she fell from a window in Henveiru Fentenoy house on April 18.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen told a news conference today that Raudh was not cooperating with the investigation review team.

"The work we have done till last night by the review team shows that there are problems of corroboration from Raudh. So we have requested a court warrant to arrest him again," he stated.

In a message sent to the media, police said he was arrested at 6:20 pm today.

This is the second time Raudh has been taken into police custody. He was previously detained, questioned and released even after testing positive for cannabis.

Yumnu, Raudh and seven others first had a drug-fueled party in an apartment of a building owned by Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen and his siblings.

Yumnu and Raudh went into Fentenoy house later that night at around 4:00 am.

Raudh left the scene after Yumnu fell and did not report to the authorities. She was discovered on a roof nearly three hours later and remains in critical condition.

On Wednesday night, young people gathered near a police building in Male' and demanded justice and a fair investigation.
