Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel met with Malta's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign and Tourism Minister Dr. Ian Borg on Monday.

During the meeting, the two ministers acknowledged that the Maldives and Malta share striking similarities and shared values.

They noted that Khaleel's visit was a pivotal step towards building a reinvigorated Maldives-Malta bilateral relations.

They also reaffirmed a mutual dedication to environmental stewardship, notably in the transition to renewable energy.

The ministers agreed on working towards boosting new trade prospects and increasing foreign investment, reinforcing their commitment to cultivating a stronger and more inclusive economic relationship.

Additionally, both sides welcomed stronger people-to-people ties, particularly through increased collaboration in the areas of tourism, fisheries and higher education.
