Adhadhu has learnt that the police attempted to raid the residence of former Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal in Male'.

Two separate sources told Adhadhu that police tried to obtain a court order to raid Faisal's house after he was sacked as tourism minister on January 28.

However, the sources did not say what accusations were against Faisal. Police stopped attempts to go ahead with the raid due to political pressure.

The government has, so far, not announced the official reason for Faisal's dismissal. But it followed a rift in relations between President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Faisal's father, Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla.

In an interview with a local news outlet, Abdul Raheem said Faisal would not have been sacked if his relationship with Muizzu had not deteriorated.
