Two foreign nationals have been arrested for allegedly smuggling beer cans into Hulhumale'.

Police said they were caught while unloading beer cans from a dinghy under a bridge near Reethi Gus Road.

They have been identified as 34-year-old Tak Bahadur Rilami of Nepal and 34-year-old Bahar Uddin of Bangladesh.

Police said one of the men had tried to flee when police officers spotted them.

"The two men were arrested and 72 beer cans were recovered from the box in their possession," police said.

Police said further investigations were underway.
