Galolhu South MP Meekail Naseem has expressed concern over the delay in summoning Homeland Security Minister Ali Ihusaan and Housing and Construction Minister Abdullah Muthalib to the People's Majlis for questioning.
In a letter to Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Meekail said he had requested to summon Muthalib on January 6 and Ihusaan on January 14.
But the two ministers were not summoned even after the 35-day notice expired, and the matter was not put on the agenda.
Meekail stated that he took a point of order on March 3 to find out the reason for the delay, and the speaker had responded by assuring him a clarification.
However, he stressed that the parliament Secretariat had not given an update on the matter.
According to the rules, a 14-day notice must be issued to the minister with the question to be asked in writing through the speaker, and the minister must appear before a sitting to respond to the question.
