The Foreign Ministry has said there is no security threat despite an anti-terrorism operation by security forces in the Male' region.
In a statement today, the ministry said there is "no present concern at this time" while the operation is still ongoing.
"These operations are routinely conducted in line with intelligence reports, as preventive measures, to ensure the safety and security of the Maldives," it stated.
The ministry said authorities will continue to monitor and take swift action on any information on threats to ensure that the Maldives remains a peaceful destination.
Three people were arrested in connection with the operation conducted by security forces on Monday night.
The police and Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) have not officially commented.
This is the first anti-terrorism operation underway since President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu assumed office in November 2023.
