Adhadhu has learnt that the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) formed a "government committee" to conclude in favor of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu in the investigation against Supreme Court Justice Husnu Suood.

Suood resigned on Tuesday in protest against intimidation of judges and attempts to exert influence over the Supreme Court in the constitutional case on MP disqualification.

The JSC and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) were investigating a fabricated case against him and Justices Mahaz Ali Zahir and Dr. Azmiralda Zahir.

They were suspended on February 26 as the full bench of the Supreme Court prepared for a hearing of the constitutional case.

ACC told the JSC that a criminal investigation was underway against them. But the JSC and ACC have not provided any information on the case. JSC is also investigating separate disciplinary complaints against them.

The JSC committee to investigate Suood's case includes Attorney General (AG) Ahmed Usham, President's member Yazmeed Mohamed and lawyers' member Ali Abdul Latheef.

Usham led the suspension process against the judges and Yazmeen was appointed to the JSC just before their suspension was announced.

Usham is among the three members who moved for an emergency session of the JSC after giving only 13 minutes notice to suspend the judges.

In a letter addressed to JSC, Suood accused President Muizzu, Usham, ACC President Adam Shamil and JSC President Hussain Riza Adam of attempting to influence the Supreme Court.
