The prices of commodities in the Travellers' Market in Male' have risen slightly on the first day of Ramadan.
Prices of some commodities were notably higher compared to a week ago.
Lettuce, dates, Kandoodhoo chilli, passion fruit and bananas were among the items with the biggest price increase.
A lettuce kilo, which was at MVR 85 last week, is now at MVR 120. Lettuce is also scarce in the market stalls.
Raw dates were priced at MVR 250 per kg last week, while the price is now at MVR 300 per kg.
A passion fruit kilo is available at MVR 120, but the price was MVR 100 last week.

A hundred grams of Kandoodhoo chili were between MVR 20 and 25 today, up from MVR 10 and 15 last week.
A kilo of watermelon is now at MVR 20 and 25, while it was MVR 25 and 30 last week. Varieties of banana are ranged between MVR 35 and 95.
The prices of other vegetables and fruits remained stable compared to last week.
