A group of lawyers have sent a letter to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to find out how their representative voted at an emergency meeting on Wednesday to suspend three Supreme Court judges.
The lawyers signed the letter and went to the JSC to hand it over and express their concern regarding the decision.
Ali Abdul Latheef sits on JSC to represent lawyers.
In the letter to JSC President Hussain Riza Adam, the lawyers asked him to clarify whether Ali had attended the emergency meeting and how he voted in the matter of suspending the judges.
The JSC administrative staff officially accepted the letter.
A JSC member who spoke to Adhadhu said that no judges working in the courts could attend the meeting due to the short notice, and the commission refused to adjourn the meeting.
JSC said the suspension was approved after the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) informed them about a criminal investigation against them. However, the ACC has declined to disclose any details of the investigation or the allegations.
