A Nepalese cook has been arrested for assaulting his assistant inside a cafe in Male' on Tuesday morning.

Siddhartha Gurung, 24, a Nepali national, was arrested in connection with the incident, police said. He was arrested under a court order.

He was remanded in custody for five days.

The cook and his Bangladeshi assistant were also injured in the fight. Police said the Bangladeshi man was currently being treated in the ICU.

A video circulating on social media shows a bloodied man inside a cafe while a Maldivian man stands near him. Police were also seen in the video.
