A tourist has died after being hit by a speed boat while snorkelling near the Radisson Blue Maldives Resorts in Alif Dhaal atoll.

Police said the deceased was identified as a 55-year-old Argentine man. The incident was reported on Friday morning.

The tourist was hit by a speed boat named ICOM Green. Police have not released any further details about the incident.

Police said further investigations were underway.

Just two months ago, a 15-year-old Singaporean girl visiting the Maldives on a study tour died after being hit by a boat propeller.

At the time, police said they were investigating the incident but no further updates have been provided.
