Former Managing Director of utilities company Fenaka, Ahmed Saeed, and former Procurement Head Mariyam Dheena Solih have been charged with abuse of authority in the Criminal Court.

Saeed and Dheena are accused of paying Blazon Inc. Pvt. Ltd. for incomplete work without verifying the completion of the agreed tasks under a 2018 contract between Fenaka and Blazon.

The Prosecutor General's Office stated that Fenaka incurred a financial loss of MVR 848,000 due to their actions.

Both individuals have been charged under Section 513(b) of the Penal Code for the misuse of official authority. If convicted, they face a jail term of one year, seven months, and six days.

In 2021, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) also requested the Prosecutor General's office for charges against Dheena. The ACC then alleged that one of the boats leased by Fenaka in 2018 was purchased by a company with close ties to Dheena. Dheena faced accusations of renting a boat from a relative for personal gain.

The ACC further revealed that their investigation uncovered several telephone communications between Dheena and the individual who submitted the quotation for the boat lease to Fenaka.

Records do not indicate that charges were filed against her. Adhadhu has requested clarification from the Prosecutor General’s Office and the ACC on this matter.

The charges against Saeed come amid a series of corruption allegations. He has denied the accusations. His passport has been confiscated to prevent him from leaving the Maldives.
