Malé, Maldives: Several national-level football players are currently participating in the AFC C License coaching course being held in Malé.

This initiative, organized by the First Division club United Victory (UV) and supported by the Football Association of Maldives (FAM), is aimed at developing coaching talent across the country.

The course, which includes both theoretical and practical sessions, has attracted 26 participants—24 locals and two foreign participants.

Among the local attendees are several former national football team players, as well as current top-tier footballers. Notable participants include Akram Abdul Ghani (Aku), captain of the 2018 SAFF Championship-winning team, and Mohamed Umair, former Maldives Player of the Year.

Also taking part are national team goalkeeper Mohamed Shafeeu (Cech), former national youth team player Mohamed Yazdhan Hussain (Yazey), and Maldives football legend Ali Shiham (Huraa Ayya), alongside his fellow Huraa teammate Atheef Ahmed.

The course provides a stepping stone for these footballers as they transition into coaching careers.

Additionally, young footballers from across the Maldives are making their first important step in coaching, with many aspiring to further their careers in the field.

The two foreign participants include Angel Munoz from Spain, a player with experience at top-tier clubs in the Maldives, and Aaditya Kharki from Nepal.

The course is being led by Ahmed Shakir from FAM’s technical department and Pro License coach Mohamed Shazly (Shaaz), with contributions from former FAM Technical Director Ahmed Shareef (Dunga) and First Division coach Ali Nisthar Mohamed.

These instructors bring a wealth of experience to the program, helping to guide the next generation of coaches in the Maldives.
