Police have started briefing Chinese tourists on water safety information and other precautions to take when spending their holiday in the Maldives.
The effort is undertaken by the tourist police in collaboration with the Tourism Ministry and the Chinese Embassy in Male'.
"As part of the effort, Chinese tourists who arrive at Velana International Airport will be briefed on water safety information and other matters to be aware of when holidaying in the Maldives," police said.
A leaflet with information in the Chinese language will also be distributed to tourists in order to raise awareness and avoid tragic incidents.
