Ahmed Nasif has been appointed Chairman of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

The post has been vacant for more than five months after the resignation of former Chairman Ahmed Zuhoor on May 22.

Nasif previously served as the Chairman of Regional Airports Company Limited under the current administration.

He is a senator of the ruling coalition's Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and a Managing Director of Media Ring Pvt Ltd, the parent company of Channel 13 TV which supports former President Abdulla Yameen.

Meanwhile, the post of Chairman of the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), which operates the country's main airport, Velana International Airport (VIA), remains vacant after the resignation of Mohamed Umar Manik (MU Manik) in February.
