The Prosecutor General's (PG) Office has dismissed the case against former Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rashid for allegedly getting rid of company documents.
The PG Office today said there wasn't enough evidence to prove a criminal charge against the head of the company’s IT department, Abdullah Shuhood and Fazul, for allegedly deleting documents.
The two were accused of deleting documents from the HDC's servers. The documents were related to the land sale to people who were not recipients under the Binveriyaa (Landlord) Scheme. The documents could be considered as evidence in a criminal investigation.
However, the PG Office said that the report prepared by the HDC's IT department stated that no documents or data were lost from the company's servers.
They added that the police investigation into the case did not find that Fazul and Shuhood had destroyed any company documents.
Fazul resigned as the Managing Director of HDC on December 21, 2024, after being suspended for alleged involvement in the fraudulent land sale.
