Kathmandu, Nepal (Auguste 28); Bangladesh clinches its first SAFF U20 Championship title with a 4-1 victory over Nepal.
This is the first time Bangladesh has won the SAFF U19 or U20 Championship.
Previously, the title was claimed by Nepal and India, with Nepal winning the first two editions and India taking the last three.
The competition was initially scheduled to be held at Dasarath Stadium, but all matches were later moved to ANFA Complex due to the condition of the pitch at Dasarath Stadium.
Although Nepal defeated Bangladesh 2-1 in the group stage, the final was a different story. Bangladesh played exceptionally well, securing a comfortable victory.
Bangladesh took the lead during first-half stoppage time when Mirajul Islam scored.
Ten minutes into the second half, he added another goal to extend the lead. Although Nepal sought to close the gap, Bangladesh capitalized on another attacking opportunity in the 71st minute with a goal from Rabby Hossen Rahul.
Nepal's Sameer Tamang managed a consolation goal in the 81st minute, but Piash Ahmed Nova sealed the victory for Bangladesh with a goal in stoppage time.
