The newly appointed Secretary General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Md. Golam Sarwar has arrived in Maldives.
Sarwar, who took office in October last year, arrived in Maldives on an introductory visit on Sunday. He is scheduled to pay a call on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The Foreign Ministry stated that Sarwar is also scheduled to meet Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer and Foreign Secretary Fathimath Inaya.
Sarwar is accompanied by his wife Taslima Sarwar, SAARC Secretariat Director Shahiya Ali Manik and Bhavesh R. Trivedi.
Sarwar, who hails from Bangladesh, is the 15th Secretary General of SAARC. The Secretary General before him was Sri Lanka's Esala Weerakoon.
