Sinamale' bridge.
Police have said that a woman who was found floating dead in the sea had been captured on CCTV footage of the Sinamale bridge.
Inspector Mohamed Samih of Serious and Organized Crime told a news conference that the woman and her lover, along with another man, were identified on the streets of Male' on May 25, (the day her body was found floating) with the help of CCTV footage.
The CCTV footage shows that the woman walked alone onto the Sinamale' bridge at 11:27 am after being with her lover. That was the last time she was seen alive.
Samih said police identified the deceased as a 25-year-old woman from Nepal who had been working in a guesthouse in Maldives since May 1.
"The investigation has revealed that the deceased woman was staying at a guesthouse with her boyfriend. We do not suspect involvement of another person in this death," he said.
Police received a tip-off that the woman was floating near the bridge on May 25. She was pronounced dead when police rushed her to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
The case is still being investigated, police said.
