Police have launched investigations after an expatriate attacked a Maldivian national with a sharp object.

In a message shared with the media on Wednesday night, police said the incident occurred in Hulhumale' and the man was stabbed in the hand.

Police did not give any further details. However, the expatriate has been arrested and the case is now under investigation.

The injured man was treated in the hospital and he did not sustain serious injuries, police said citing hospital officials.
