The remand period for Ali Juman, 25, has been extended by an additional 15 days following his arrest on charges of inciting violence.
Police confirmed that Juman was apprehended under a court order for allegedly using social media to encourage the torching of buildings and vehicles, as well as the looting of a local shop.
Juman’s social media posts reportedly incited the public to take to the streets in protest against the allocation of a portion of the Rasmalé project to Eagle Hills, a company with links to Israel. His posts suggested setting fire to buildings and targeting a well-known retail outlet.
Evidence presented against Juman in this terrorism-related case includes police intelligence reports, documentation of his posts on X, and formal complaints and letters submitted to the police by concerned stakeholders requesting an investigation into the matter.
In the remand order, the court cited the potential threat to public safety as the justification for his continued detention.
Juman’s arrest follows the detention of former Deputy Minister Hassan Zihan, who was also taken into custody for Facebook posts inciting arson against state institutions. Zihan had suggested that setting fire to the Supreme Court, the President’s Office, and the People’s Majlis would be "fun."
