Launch ceremony held for Nasheed’s new book

The Chairperson of the Maldivian Democratic Party and former President, Mohamed Nasheed, has launched his short story collection titled 80 ge Kureekolhu (Early 80s).

The book was unveiled last night during a ceremony held at Dhon Maniku Restaurant. The book was officially launched by Nasheed’s aunt, Zuhaira Umar of Galolhu Kenereege. The book is priced at MVR 250.

"I wrote these stories in the late 80s and early 90s. Although the title says 'Early 80s,' that was a change that occurred during the second draft. I wrote these stories in 1994, shortly after I was moved from prison to house arrest," Nasheed said.

The book features five stories.

Nasheed also revealed that he has authored another book based on his life from 1989 to 2008. Written in English, he noted that the manuscript has already been sent to a publisher.

Nasheed is an accomplished writer who worked as a journalist and author before entering politics. He has continued to write throughout his political career.
