Former Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Chairperson Fayyaz Ismail said today that his goal is to create 10,000 entrepreneurs during his presidency and secure financial independence for the citizens.

Speaking at the "Bodu Badhalu" (Big Change) workshop held in Addu City, Fayyaz said that the "mega-project" of his administration would be the creation of 10,000 entrepreneurs, and he invited public input on the initiative.

"My mega-project will be to create 10,000 entrepreneurs in the Maldives. Not a bridge, nor anything else. I strongly urge you to think from that perspective and share your ideas with us," Fayyaz said during the workshop.

Fayyaz, who has announced his candidacy for the MDP presidential primary, said he wants to liberate citizens from traditional employment and provide them with financial autonomy. He noted that this is necessary because employees often face the risk of losing their jobs due to political shifts.

"I am not talking about jobs. I am talking about liberating you from jobs. Government employment lasts for five years. Even then, there is a chance of losing your job if you disagree with the government of the day, or even your own party. That is the current situation," Fayyaz said.

"My goal, if given the opportunity, is to liberate you. To bring financial independence to you."

Furthermore, Fayyaz said that his objective is to identify economic opportunities in every island and allocate a portion of the budget to provide various forms of assistance to those who wish to work independently.

Fayyaz is currently visiting Addu City to garner support for the presidential primary. As part of this trip, he is visiting various islands in the atoll and conducting door-to-door campaign activities.
