MDP Congress: Nasheed and Solih to address opening ceremony tonight

The Chairperson of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), former President Mohamed Nasheed, and former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih are scheduled to address the opening ceremony of the MDP Congress tonight.

Adhadhu has learned that in addition to Nasheed and Solih, the President of the Thinadhoo City Women's Development Committee (WDC), Mariyam Sharoona Adil, is also slated to speak at tonight's inaugural session.

Following the opening of the congress tonight, an investment forum is scheduled to take place from tomorrow afternoon through the evening. The formal proceedings of the congress are set to officially commence on Saturday morning.

During Saturday's sessions, delegates will debate and approve proposed amendments to the party’s constitution. Furthermore, the congress is expected to deliberate and reach decisions on resolutions regarding major systemic changes and the decentralisation system.

According to the MDP, there are 986 eligible delegates for the congress. A big majority of these representatives have already registered to participate in the event.
