The public disclosure of financial statements for Members of Parliament has revealed that Ibrahim Mohamed (Janab), the MP for North Machangolhi, and Yaseen Abdulla, the MP for Naifaru, have failed to submit their declarations.

Out of the 93 members of the People’s Majlis, the financial statements of 90 members have been published on the official parliamentary website. Ibrahim Mohamed and Yaseen are the only two members required to file who have failed to do so.

Abdulla Sodiq, the newly elected MP for North Hithadhoo following a by-election, is not yet legally mandated to submit a financial statement as he has not completed a full year in office.

Members of Parliament are required to submit their annual financial declarations by August 31 each year.

The financial statements published by the Majlis include details of annual income, bank account balances, personal debts and loans, as well as assets held in the member's name.

Furthermore, the declarations must disclose any corporate shareholdings, cash on hand, details of assets sold within specific categories, and any holdings classified as intellectual property.

During the previous year’s filing period, Ahmed Zamir (Central Machangolhi), Mohamed Nazim (North Maafannu), Mohamed Musthafa Ibrahim (West Maafannu), Mohamed Shamin (Kurendhoo), and Ismail Nizar (North Feydhoo) failed to submit their statements by the deadline. However, those members later filed their declarations.
