Rip Curl Maafushi store was officially opened by Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Didi, Chairman of SIMDI Group, Dr Mariyam Shakeela, CEO of SIMDI Group and Mr. Edwin Stevens, representing Rip Curl.

The opening ceremony was attended by guests and members of the local community marking another milestone in the continued growth of Rip Curl in the Maldives.

Speaking at the opening, Shakeela highlighted the significance of bringing Rip Curl to Maafushi, particularly given the island’s strong connection to tourism and the ocean.

“We now have Rip Curl outlets operating across key destinations including Crossroads Maldives, Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi, Niyama Private Islands and Hulhumalé, and we are very pleased to bring the brand to Maafushi. With its strong tourism industry and deep connection to the ocean, Maafushi is an ideal location for Rip Curl. We believe this store has great potential to become one of our strongest outlets and we look forward to exploring further opportunities to bring Rip Curl to other locations where we see strong market potential.”

To celebrate the opening, Customers visiting Maafushi can now experience Rip Curl’s collections while enjoying the Grand Opening Promotion, with up to 40% OFF storewide from 27th September to 11 October 2026.

Maafushi store is designed to reflect Rip Curl’s distinctive coastal identity, combining the brand’s surf heritage with a relaxed island atmosphere. The new location is positioned to serve both the local community and visitors all over the globe exploring Maafushi, one of the Maldives popular island destinations.

The partnership between SIMDI Group and Rip Curl began in 2019, with the brand continuing to expand its footprint across key retail and resort destinations in the Maldives.

SIMDI Group extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who supported the opening of Rip Curl Maafushi and contributed to making the occasion a success. The Group remains committed to bringing leading international brands and experiences closer to communities across the Maldives.
