The government has decided to resume the "Ahaa" public forum series after a year-long hiatus, despite pledges to hold the sessions every two months.
The last "Ahaa" forum was held on July 14, 2025. It marked the sixth instalment of a series intended to feature five cabinet ministers every two months to ensure government transparency.
Scheduled for tomorrow at 9:00 pm, the upcoming forum will feature Home Minister Ali Ihusaan, Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam, and Sports Minister Abdulla Rafiu.
Public Service Media (PSM) stated that the public can submit questions during the live broadcast via Facebook and X, as well as by calling the station directly.
President Mohamed Muizzu had previously announced that these forums would be held bimonthly.
"This is a public forum. During these sessions, the public will have the opportunity to ask any question related to the mandates of the participating ministers. Every two months, a different batch of cabinet members will attend. We will hold these public forums every two months with five ministers at a time," Muizzu stated on January 22, 2024.
Despite the President's commitment, the "Ahaa" forums have not been held according to the promised schedule. Furthermore, the President has yet to fulfil a separate pledge made during his Presidential Address on February 5, in which he stated that both he and his ministers would meet with the press on a weekly basis.
