The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has announced that more than 100 investment opportunities will be showcased at an investment forum held during its upcoming congress, scheduled to begin on October 1st.
As the main opposition party prepares to hold its congress from October 1 to 3 at the Male' City Hall, officials said they are working with various local councils to secure investors for over 100 projects. The MDP noted that these initiatives are designed to bolster the revenue streams of local councils.
"One hundred projects represent one hundred business opportunities. During this congress, we intend to open these opportunities to the business community. Businesses interested in investing will be able to facilitate these ventures through discussions with the respective councils," the party’s Chairperson, former President Mohamed Nasheed, stated at a press conference today.
The MDP confirmed that the forum, titled "Rahvehi Tharagghee", will offer investment prospects across multiple sectors, including tourism, agriculture, mariculture, logistics, infrastructure, climate finance, fisheries, and real estate.
The party has now officially opened the window for interested parties to express their interest in investing in these projects.
Since assuming the role of MDP Chairperson, Nasheed has established a project office within the party’s secretariat to collaborate with local councils. The office is headed by former Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer.
