The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Pension Office, Mariyam Shiuna, has been suspended from her post.
A reliable source informed that Shiuna was suspended yesterday following grievances raised by some members of the Pension Board.
"Shiuna was performing her duties professionally. The biggest dissatisfaction lies with the Chairman," the source stated.
When contacted for comment, a media official from the Pension Office said the institution does not disclose information regarding matters related to individual employees.
"The Pension Office does not share information with the media concerning administrative matters involving individual staff members," the official said.
Shiuna joined the Pension Office in April 2023. Prior to this, she served as the President of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and previously held the position of Executive Director at Transparency Maldives.
Shiuna holds a Master’s degree in International Development from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from London Metropolitan University.
