The Chief of Staff at the President's Office, Abdulla Fayaz, has been promoted to the rank of Senior Minister.

According to the President's Office website, Fayaz is currently the only individual holding this rank. Previously, at the beginning of this administration, the Speaker of Parliament, Abdul Raheem Abdulla, held the same status during his tenure as Special Advisor to President Mohamed Muizzu.

Fayaz previously served as a Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Housing during Muizzu's tenure as Housing Minister.

Since Abdul Raheem’s election to Parliament, no other official had been promoted to the rank of Senior Minister until now.

The practice of appointing officials at the Senior Minister level within the President's Office began during former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s administration. Notable figures who held the rank at that time included Fathulla Jameel, Abdulla Hameed, and Umar Zahir.
