MIB extends Guesthouse Awards deadline

The Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has extended the application deadline for the "MIB Guesthouse Awards 2026" following numerous requests.

While the initial deadline for submissions was set for August 31, the window has now been extended until 11:59 pm on September 14.

A total of 20 awards will be presented across three main categories. These include 16 awards for guesthouses divided into two tiers, three individual awards for tourism professionals, and a special "Guesthouse Tourism Champion Island" award to recognize the most outstanding island in the sector.

The awards are designed to promote local tourism in the Maldives and to honor the contributions of distinguished service providers, guesthouses, and islands that have made significant impacts at the local level.

To ensure a fair and transparent evaluation process, Crowe Maldives Advisory has been appointed as an independent third-party auditor for the awards.

According to MIB, the objective of these awards is to elevate the standards of local tourism in the Maldives, encourage innovative and sustainable practices, and celebrate the excellence of authentic Maldivian hospitality.
