The ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) has hired 100 individuals to promote President Mohamed Muizzu on social media, amid concerns over his declining popularity across digital platforms.

Reliable sources have confirmed to Adhadhu that these individuals, selected from across the country, have been tasked solely with praising Muizzu on social media.

These "promoters," who are on the PNC payroll, receive a monthly salary of MVR 12,000. This brings the total monthly expenditure for the group to MVR 1.2 million.

Sources familiar with the matter informed Adhadhu that the operation is spearheaded by the Chief Government Spokesperson and PNC Vice President, Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu).

Screenshots from a WhatsApp group titled "PNC Constituency Social Media Team" have also leaked on social media.

In the leaked messages, Mundhu urged those not yet registered with the PNC to join the party and emphasized the importance of maintaining confidentiality. He also provided instructions on how team meetings would be conducted and noted that Mohamed Firzul, the CEO of the Hajj Corporation, is also playing a leading role in the initiative.

Mundhu informed the group that salaries for the remainder of this month have already been deposited to mark the start of their assignment, with full monthly payments to follow starting next month.

The deployment of this specialized team comes at a time when political appointees are already mandated to share government posts and promote the President. Screenshots from various WhatsApp groups used to coordinate these activities and issue directives have previously been leaked to the public.
