President Mohamed Muizzu has today submitted two nominations to the People’s Majlis for the position of Commissioner General of Taxation.
The two candidates proposed by the President are Mohamed Haleem Abdulla and Fathimath Ameeza.
Mohamed Haleem Abdulla currently serves as the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives. Fathimath Ameeza is the Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation at the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA).
The position of Commissioner General of Taxation became vacant following the resignation of Hassan Zareer, who stepped down to assume the role of Minister of Finance.
The Parliament's Economic Affairs Committee will now review the nominations of Haleem and Ameeza before the matter is brought to the floor for a final vote.
