The Indian Coast Guard has provided emergency assistance to a cargo vessel that began taking on water while en route from Tamil Nadu to the Maldives.
The vessel involved in the incident is the "MV Sittha," a 57-meter ship operating under the Comoros flag. According to the Indian Coast Guard, the incident occurred on Saturday during its transit between India and the Maldives.
Reports indicate that the vessel began taking on water after several leaks were discovered in its hull. Upon detecting the flooding, the crew immediately requested assistance from the Coast Guard.
Video footage released by the Indian Coast Guard shows water gushing rapidly through two holes, about one inch in diameter, located in the ship's hull.
Coast Guard personnel successfully rescued all crew members and assisted in dewatering the vessel. The ship was escorted to Tuticorin Port for necessary repairs.
Adhadhu understands that the cargo destined for the Maldives was successfully salvaged. Furthermore, reports confirm that the shipment sustained no water damage during the incident.
