All Maldivian pilgrims who travelled to Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj pilgrimage have returned to the Maldives, the Islamic Ministry announced today.
In a post on X, Islamic Minister Mohamed Shaheem said that with the return of all pilgrims, this year has been marked as a successful year for Hajj operations.
"All pilgrims who travelled from the Maldives to perform Hajj this year have returned home following the completion of their pilgrimage. This has been a successful year for Hajj affairs. I pray their pilgrimage was accepted," Shaheem said.
A total of 1,000 pilgrims from the Maldives travelled to perform the Hajj pilgrimage this year.
The number of people traveling to Saudi Arabia from across the globe to perform Hajj saw an increase compared to last year. According to statistics, more than 1.5 million people travelled for Hajj from countries other than Saudi Arabia, representing an increase of approximately 11,000 pilgrims compared to the previous year.
