In an announcement, the Kulhudhuffushi City Council outlined several guidelines for participants in the parade, which is scheduled for the second day of Eid.
The council mandated that the "Maali" costumes must not contradict Islamic principles and must adhere to public social standards. Furthermore, the use of specific individuals' names and images has been prohibited.
The council also stated that those who create the costumes will be held personally responsible for their portrayals.
The Kulhudhuffushi Mashi Maali parade receives public attention every year, as it is recognized as a significant medium for expressing views on the state of the nation.
In previous years, the parade has featured various costumes and displays aimed at satirizing prominent political figures.
