Police arrested two suspects in Male' last Thursday following an operation that led to the seizure of more than one kilogram of narcotics.
The operation, conducted jointly by the Drug Enforcement Department and Counter-Narcotics Intelligence, led to the arrest of Mohamed Fauzan, 35, and Zakir Hossain, 29, a Bangladeshi national.
Upon being produced before the court to determine their remand status, the court ordered Zakir Hossain to be remanded in custody for 15 days, while Mohamed Fauzan was given a 10-day remand period.
In a separate operation last week, police seized over 13 kilograms of drugs during searches of two apartments in the Male' area. A total of three individuals were arrested in connection with that case.
The police are currently conducting multiple operations to combat the drug trade. These ongoing efforts have resulted in numerous arrests and significant drug seizures throughout the year.
