The Parliament has rejected an emergency motion submitted by Galolhu North MP Meekail Naseem calling for an investigation into the police raid on the Adhadhu office, during which a significant amount of equipment was seized in connection with the 'Aisha' documentary.
Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla declined to accept the motion, ruling that it did not meet the necessary criteria for emergency motions as stipulated in the Standing Orders of the People’s Majlis.
The documentary, released on Adhadhu’s social media platforms on March 28, features a former employee of the President’s Office making serious allegations regarding a personal relationship with President Mohamed Muizzu.
During a press conference held yesterday morning, Muizzu categorically denied all claims made in the documentary. The President stated that he would request relevant authorities to take the strictest possible legal action against everyone involved in the production.
Hours later, police arrived with a court warrant and conducted a four-hour search of the Adhadhu office, seizing electronic equipment essential for operations.
Furthermore, the passports of Adhadhu’s CEO, Hussain Fiyaz Moosa, and Managing Editor, Hassan Mohamed, have been confiscated after authorities claimed to have received "intelligence" suggesting they intended to flee the country.
