Maldivian, the national airline, and SriLankan Airlines, the national carrier of Sri Lanka, have signed a landmark agreement to integrate their travel networks to provide seamless connectivity for tourists.

According to Maldivian, the agreement will enable tourists arriving in the Maldives through SriLankan Airlines to access 17 domestic destinations across the country via Maldivian’s extensive network.

The airline further noted that the partnership ensures a hassle-free travel experience for passengers arriving from key global markets through Colombo, facilitating smooth transfers to various regions within the Maldives.

Maldivian highlighted that the agreement will also offer significant benefits to Maldivian travelers. Passengers flying with the national carrier will gain enhanced convenience and a wider range of options when connecting to SriLankan Airlines’ international destinations via Colombo.

Once the agreement is fully implemented, Maldivian citizens traveling abroad will be able to reach global destinations on a single ticket through streamlined flight connections.

Commenting on the partnership, Ibrahim Iyas, Managing Director of Maldivian, stated that this is a significant step in the ongoing efforts to improve accessibility to the Maldives and strengthen connectivity to the atolls beyond the capital, Male'.

"By linking SriLankan Airlines’ extensive international reach with Maldivian’s comprehensive domestic network, we will not only provide a major boost to Maldivian tourism but also offer greater convenience for Maldivians traveling internationally," Iyas said.

Maldivian emphasized that this partnership is part of both airlines' vision to foster regional cooperation and provide high-quality, convenient services to passengers by leveraging their combined networks.

SriLankan Airlines is a member of the prestigious Oneworld alliance. The carrier currently operates flights to 114 destinations in 62 countries, spanning Europe, the Middle East, Asia, North America, and Australia.
