Ali Arif, who served as a Minister at the President's Office, has resigned from his post.
The President's Office confirmed the resignation to Adhadhu. Arif held the position of Minister for Presidential Affairs.
Arif is a former MP for Kelaa constituency. He also served as the spokesperson for the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
He later joined the Jumhooree Party (JP), where he served as the party's Secretary General.
Following President Mohamed Muizzu's assumption of office, Arif was among the first group of individuals appointed to political positions within the administration.
Ali Arif's resignation comes at a time when approximately 70 percent of the public has expressed disapproval of the government.
