The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has refused to comment on jobs and projects offered by the government ahead of the April local council elections.
The ACC declined to comment on the matter despite repeated calls and text messages.
Adhadhu has learned that employees are being recruited for ministries, state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and various agencies in the run-up to the polls.
Local Government Minister Adam Shareef recently announced that more than 500 employees will be hired for public works. But the ACC did not comment.
The government is also accepting applications for housing projects to coincide with the council elections.
Applications have been opened for 15,000 land plots and 7,900 flats in the Male' region and 100 housing units in Thaa Vilufushi island.
The government also opened applications for 100 housing units in Baa Thulhaadhoo island after stopping the council from carrying out the process.
On January 12, the ACC urged the public to report bribery attempts by candidates running in the local council elections.
The ACC reminded that bribery is a legal offence and assured that no such case will be left unattended.
But the commission has not made any announcements regarding reports of alleged bribery or corruption from the government for the polls.
