Police have successfully rescued a man who was adrift after his boat sank while traveling between Funadhoo and Feevah in Shaviyani Atoll.
According to the police, the boat sank while en route from Sh. Funadhoo to Sh. Feevah. The police received the distress call regarding the incident around 11:50 AM.
"Immediately upon receiving the information, a police launch was dispatched to the area. While searching, the man traveling on the boat was spotted near Feevah, in the open sea," a police official stated in a message to the media.
The rescued individual is a 68-year-old man. He was successfully rescued and has since been transported to Feevah aboard the police launch. The police confirmed that the man is in good health.
Authorities confirmed that no other individuals were traveling on the boat at the time of the sinking.
The police also issued an alert, requesting vessels traveling in the area to be cautious, as some debris from the sunken boat is currently adrift.
